ESSEX, UK- Jamie Oliver, celebrity chef and entrepreneur, known for championing healthier eating and higher standards in food production, has typically campaigned against McDonalds as a peddler of unhealthy, low-grade food. But as pub close neared, he was heard expressing an apparent reversal of attitude toward the fast food giant.
In the voice of Gollum from Lord Of The Rings, a favorite in the Oliver household, he addressed his best mates as they were putting back the last of their pints, “Me wants the corn-syrupies, me wants the bad beefies, me wants the salty chipies, and me wants it nowsies!!!”
From there the small group of boisterous lads ended up at a McDonalds restaurant somewhere in Essex, ordering a barrage of number 1’s,2’s, and 3’s from the bewildered young woman behind the register, and then set up camp around a bolted down table.
With his mouth full of double quarter pounder with cheese, he bit the heads off a bouquet of freshly dipped chips, declaring, “Ammonium Hydroxide be damned, this my friends, THIS is the finest food ever to move its way through a homo sapiens digest tract.” Closing his eyes in loving contemplation, and taking a gulp from his icy Coca Cola, he continued with a tone of self-correction, “Food? This isn’t food! This is the milk of salvation flowing from the teat of God’s mother. There is nothing more nutritious or life giving.”
